My name is Mary O'Neill and I'm a qualified, experienced and registered Teacher. I offer individual Structured Literacy tuition on the Kapiti Coast.

I opened Read Write Kapiti in 2022, while continuing to teach Literacy Intervention part-time at local schools. It has been wonderful being able to see students progress and develop. Their confidence and skills soon begin to soar after individual tuition.

Whether your child is struggling with reading, writing, spelling (with or without a formal diagnosis), I able to help children learn to read and write. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Literacy Teaching and have had 3 years of structured literacy Professional Development from Liz Kane Literacy. I have also completed other literacy courses accredited by the International Dyslexia Association and hold the BSLA Specialist Reading Facilitator qualification from the University of Canterbury. I will also complete the IMSLE Tier 2 & 3 Specialist Teacher qualification at the end of the year.

I have been teaching using evidence-based structured literacy for over 9 years, and have seen the difference it makes to our tamariki.

Whether your child needs specific additional support with literacy difficulties, or help to reach their full potential in reading, writing and spelling, I can help.

In School/Homeschooling Lessons:

Years 0-9

(Ages 4-14)

Lessons during school hours are held on Mondays, and in the afternoons (Tues - Fri), at schools in Waikanae.

School Holidays:

Lessons are also available during school holidays at hours to suit you.
